SCRANTON, PA (November 23, 2025) -- The No. 2 University of Scranton were able to control the middle quarters, pulling away after a close first frame to earn a 73-42 win over the Tufts University women's basketball team in action from the John Long Center Sunday.
Tufts trailed by just six after the first quarter, but was outscored 36-15 over the second and third quarters as the host Lady Royals (6-0) distanced themselves from the Jumbos (3-2).
Junior
Stella Galanes came off the bench to score a team-high nine points on 3-of-9 shooting, hitting three triples. Senior
Sarah Crossett added eight points, three rebounds and three assists, while
Annie Aspesi tallied eight points while connecting on two triples.
First-year
Tessa Lozner finished with eight points, adding eight rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes.
Siobhan Stapleton also posted five rebounds in the loss for Tufts.
The Jumbos shot a very solid 46.7 percent in the first quarter (7-15), but wouldn't be able to keep pace with the Lady Royals finishing only 15-of-44 (34.1 percent) from the floor.
Kaci Kranston had 18 points for Scranton, while Katie Gorski posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Elizabeth Bennett also had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.
The Jumbos will head to Endicott College Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. for non-conference play with the Gulls in Beverly.
