MEDFORD, MA (December 5, 2025) -- The Tufts University men's squash upped its mark to .500 for the season Friday evening in the Tufts Squash Center, as the Jumbos cruised to a 7-2 home victory over No. 13 MIT in a match-up of Top 15 squads.
The three matches on first were at the No. 2, No. 6 and No. 8 spots, as the Jumbos started that flight with a 3-0 lead. Junior
Nachiket Desai rolled to an early three-game win, as he topped Ethan Chan 11-2, 11-9 and 11-6 to put Tufts ahead as he evened his mark at 3-3 on the year.
Senior captain
Jared Chin dropped the opening game, but won the next three to put Tufts up 2-0 thanks to a 6-11, 11-5, 11-5 and 11-3 win at the No. 6 spot. Chin now has a team-best 4-2 record on the year.
The final match of the first flight was at No. 8, as senior
Shivin Kumar was behind 2-1 in the match but controlled the final two games to win a thriller with scores of 15-13, 10-12, 7-11, 11-4 and 11-4. Kumar has now won three of the first four matches of his season.
The Jumbos edge moved to 4-0 thanks to a win by sophomore
Milo Friedman at No. 4, as he was leading 11-7, 11-3 before Mero Elmarassy retired to give the Jumbos the victory.
Rohan Valia would help the Jumbos clinch the victory at No. 3 as he picked up an 11-9, 1-11, 11-2 and 11-2 win over John Gunton. At No. 9, Ilya Kipkolov was drop a five-set heartbreaker to Eddie Xue of MIT 11-7, 11-8, 10-12, 3-11 and 5-11 in five games.
The final flight saw Santiago Medina Carillo win in four games over Philip Su Price 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-7 at the No. 1 position, First-year
Khaled Serag allowed just 14 points in an 11-3, 11-7 and 11-4 win at the No. 5 over Zachary Starr while MIT also picked up another victory at No. 7.
The Jumbos will be back in action Saturday to take on Connecticut College at noon inside Tufts Squash Center.
