PHILADELPHIA – The #5 University of Virginia men's squash team showcased its depth and skill with a commanding 9-0 sweep over #12 Tufts University on Thursday at the Arlen Specter Squash Center. The Cavaliers were in control from the start, winning all nine matches to improve to 11-4 on the season.

At the top of the lineup, Karim Elbarbary led the way with a hard-fought straight-game victory over Nachiket Desai (11-7, 14-12, 11-8), surviving a tense second game to seal the win. John Paul Tew followed with a composed 3-0 victory at No. 2, while Juan Jose Torres delivered a strong performance at No. 3 over Kerwin Teh, 11-5, 11-4 and 11-7.

The middle of the lineup featured some of the most competitive matches of the day. At No. 4, Dylan Moran overcame a second-game setback to defeat Jared Chin in four games (11-9, 8-11, 11-6, 11-6). Maxwell Velazquez also battled back from an early deficit, taking a four-game win over Rohan Valia (10-12, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7). Nathan Rosenzweig showed resilience after dropping the first game, coming back to defeat Youssef Ezzo (2-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-8).

Virginia's depth shined in the lower third of the lineup, with Ewan Harris, Francis Hajek, and CJ Baldini all securing straight-game victories to complete the sweep. Harris was particularly dominant, allowing just 15 total points in his match.

With the win, Virginia improves to 11-4 on the season, solidifying its position among the nation's top teams. Tufts falls to 11-8.
