Five Jumbos On 2025 Academic All-District® Softball Teams

MEDFORD, MA (May 27, 2025) - Five Tufts University players have received recognition on the 2025 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC). The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The Jumbos receiving the honor are Lacy Chilek, Sophia DiCocco, Lauryn Horita, Bela Jimenez and Keriann Slayton.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Field players must have appeared in at least 90 percent of the team's games or have started at least 66 percent of the games. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched 35 innings.

Chilek is a 2025 Tufts graduate who earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology. DiCocco and Jimenez are both 2024 graduates with BA's in International Relations who are completing their graduate degrees in the School Of Engineering's Innovation & Management program. Slayton also just graduated earlier this month with a double degree in International Literary and Visual Studies and History. Horita is a rising senior majoring in Biology.

All five Jumbos were key contributors to head coach Lauren Ebstein's Tufts team which won the 2025 NESCAC championship this spring to earn an NCAA Tournament berth for the seventh straight season. The Jumbos finished the year with a 29-15 record.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Select Academic All-District® recipients advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 17, 2025.
