BRUNSWICK, ME (January 10, 2026) - The Tufts University men's squash team completed an undefeated weekend to open its second semester of action with a 7-2 victory in a NESCAC match at Bowdoin College today.
After edging Colby College 5-4 on Friday, the Jumbos pulled away from Bowdoin today after the teams split the first four matches that finished. Tufts, ranked 11th, is now 6-3 overall including 4-1 in conference matches. The #21 Polar Bears fall to 2-5 (1-2 NESCAC).
The teams went back-and-forth to start today. Junior
Rutva Samant got the Jumbos going with a three-game win in the #9 match (11-4, 11-7, 11-9). After Bowdoin's Jai Karande tied the score at 1-1 with the win at #5, the Jumbos regained an advantage when senior
Shivin Kumar rolled to an 11-3, 11-9, 11-3 win in the seventh match. Kumar improved to a 6-1 record on the season for the Jumbos. However, the Polar Bears would even it up again as Liam Waldron took the #2 match 11-4, 11-8, 9-11 11-7.Â
Tufts would not lose again. Consecutive victories by sophomore
Ali Tarek at #8 (11-2, 11-4, 11-7) and senior
Jared Chin in the fourth match brought the Jumbos to the brink of victory. Chin won a remarkable 20-18 first game before finishing off his victory with 11-9 and 11-5 scores. He improved to a 7-2 mark on the season.
The clinching victory for the Jumbos came in the #1 match where
Santiago Medina Carrillo won in four after losing decisively in the first game to Bowdoin's Fotis Zafiriou. Scores were 1-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-9. The victory was the sixth of the year in the #1 position for Medina.
The Jumbos would close out the team triumph with two more victories, junior
Aarav Gill (4-1 overall record) in three games over Luciano Agudelo in the third match and
Milo Friedman earning his first #3 win of the season by 11-8, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5 scores.
Tufts will return to action on Tuesday with another conference match as they host #14 Amherst College at Tufts Squash Center starting at 2:00 PM.
