MEDFORD, MA (January 13, 2026) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash squad dominated action for much of the match Tuesday afternoon, rolling to its fifth straight victory with an 8-1 win over No. 14 Amherst College in action from Tufts Squash Center.
The Jumbos got on the board early in the match, as first-year
Ilya Kipkalov won at No. 9 over Aiden Shap 11-5, 6-11, 11-6 and 11-3 for his fourth win of the season. Kipkalov has won his last two outings.
Senior
Jared Chin kept his winning ways going with another strong performance, shaking off a first game loss to defeat Zi Tao Yu 6-11, 11-5, 11-8 and 11-1. The win was Chin's eight straight victory, and is two wins away for recording double-digit wins for the fourth straight season of his amazing career.
The longest match of the opening round was at No. 2, as
Rohan Valia and Roman Parisi played a marathon match at the second spot. Valia won the first two games 14-12 and 11-6, before falling in the third match 11-3. Valia would respond with an 11-5 win in the fourth to even his season mark at 5-5.
In the second wave,
Aarav Gill was a four-game winner over Flynn Venmore at No. 7 as he pushed the Jumbos to within one win of the match victory with a 11-5, 10-12, 11-6 and 11-6. Sophomore Santiago Carrillo knocked off Devon Osborne at the top spot 12-10, 8-11, 11-3 and 11-7 to clinch the victory, winning his fifth straight match to improve to 7-3.
The Jumbos would sweep the third wave of action as well, as sophomore
Milo Friedman won in three games over Joseph Toth 11-7, 11-4 and 12-10.
Shivin Kumar knocked off Grady Herbert 6-11, 11-6, 11-6 and 11-6 at No. 8, while
Mustafa Ayaz rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win in five games, 6-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-7 and 11-5.
Sophomore
Ali Tarek would also win at No. 10 in exhibition action 11-4, 11-5 and 11-3 over Robert Avram.
The Jumbos will travel south this weekend to take on No. 4 University of Virginia at The St. James Sports Complex in Springfield, Va. January 17 at 1 p.m.
