Hamilton Captures 3-1 NESCAC Hockey Win Over Jumbos

Box Score CLINTON, N.Y. (January 16, 2025) – Junior goaltender Aksel Reid posted 23 saves in the win as the Hamilton College men's hockey team took down Tufts University 3-1 in NESCAC action Friday night at Sage Rink.

Hamilton remains undefeated in regulation on the season in conference play at 7-0-1, while Tufts drops to 2-5-0 in the NESCAC.

Noah Leibl put Hamilton up 1-0 8:41 into the second period off a feed from Ben Zimmerman, who tallied the lone assist on the goal. As Hamilton was shorthanded, Zimmerman found Leibl with a stretch pass leading him to wrist the puck past the Jumbos netminder.

John Wojciechowski doubled Hamilton's lead 1:49 into the third period with a helper from Jackson Krock. On the man advantage, Hamilton hounded the Jumbos zone and Krock found Wojciechowski with a tape-to-tape pass who then slid it past Gus Bylin.

Phillipe Lamarre tallied the lone even strength goal 7:44 into the third to bring the Jumbos back within one. Moving through the neutral zone Dennis Davidson fed Trace Norwell who then set up Lamarre in a perfect position to cut the deficit in half.

Jackson sealed the win for Hamilton with under 90 seconds remaining in the third with an empty net marker with assists coming from Leibl and Justin Biraben.

Bylin was pulled for the extra skater with 1:47 left in regulation. The Jumbos had a few opportunities to knot the game at two including a chaotic net-front sequence, but Hamilton was able clear and score the empty net goal.

Bylin stood tall in net stopping 31 shots between the posts. However, Reid captured the win as he registered totals of five saves, seven saves, and 12 saves throughout the three periods, respectively.

Hamilton led the shot department 34-24. Hamilton converted once on the power play as they went 1 for 3 and the Jumbos finished 0 for 2 on the man advantage.

Tufts returns to play tomorrow for a 3:00 puck drop at Amherst College.
