WATERVILLE, MAINE (January 9, 2026) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team was deadlocked at two matches apiece against a tough Colby College squad, but the Jumbos were able to outlast the host Mules to earn a 5-4 win in action from Dunaway Squash Courts Friday evening.
The Jumbos (5-3) got a big win by Santiago Carrillo at the top spot, as he bested Seif Ashraf in four games 11-13, 11-7, 11-5 and 11-8. The victory was Carrillo's third-straight victory as he improved to 5-3 on the year.
Senior
Jared Chin upped his win straight to six matches with another victory Friday, as he topped Omar Bastawy 11-4, 10-12, 11-5 and 11-8 at the No. 5 position.
Mustafa Ayaz also upped his mark to 3-0 at the No. 6 position this season, as he knocked off Sebastian Campos 11-9, 11-3, 8-11 and 11-4. Senior
Shivin Kumar needed four games to win at No. 8, but picked up an 11-8, 11-5, 7-11, and 11-8 victory over Avery Rosenberg.
At No. 9, first-year
Ilya Kipkalov had no problems against Oliver Riordan as he allowed just eight points in an 11-1, 11-3 and 11-4 win. Sophomore
Ali Tarek also surrendered just four points in his exhibition win over Aidan Corwin in an 11-2, 11-0, 11-2 victory.
Tufts fell at 2-3-4 and at the No. 7 spot, but were able to knock off No. 20 Colby for the fourth straight time Friday.
The Jumbos will battle Bowdoin College Saturday at noon in Brunswick, Maine.
