No. 11 Tufts Men’s Squash Tops No. 15 Middlebury, 7-2

MEDFORD, MA -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team earned a strong 7-2 victory over No. 15 Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon at the Tufts Squash Center, improving to 10–4 on the season.

The Jumbos secured wins at seven of the nine positions, including four victories in the top half of the ladder to seal the team result.

At the top spot, Santiago Carrillo opened the match with a composed four-game win over Gabe Feinstein, setting the tone for Tufts as he has now won his last three matches.

Nachiket Desai followed with a comeback performance at No. 2, dropping the opening game before rallying to win three straight against David Zhao. Tufts extended its early momentum as Rohan Valia earned a four-game victory at the No. 3 position, improving to 8-6 on the season.

One of the match's most competitive battles came at No. 4, where Milo Friedman outlasted Kian Kardestuncer in five games, as he moved to 3-2 at No. 4 this year. Friedman rebounded after splitting the middle games, closing out the match 11-5 in the fifth.

Middlebury earned its two points at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, but Tufts responded with decisive wins in the lower half of the lineup.

Aarav Gill delivered a straight-game victory at No. 7, while Ali Tarek claimed a hard-fought three-game win at No. 8, highlighted by two tight opening games. Gill is now 7-2 this season, while Tarek is 4-0 on the campaign including a 4-0 record at No. 8. 

Ilya Kipkalov capped the scoring with a straight-game result at No. 9, winning his third straight match to get to 5-4 overall.

Tufts will now be off for a week before traveling to Dartmouth College February 8 at 1 p.m. for the final regular season match of the year.
