Tufts Athletics and Tisch College Open Applications for 2026–2027 Civic Life Ambassador Program

MEDFORD, MA (February 24, 2026) -- Tufts Athletics, in partnership with the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the 2026–2027 Civic Life Ambassador Program. The application deadline is March 6, 2026.

The Civic Life Ambassador Program is a year-long leadership and civic engagement opportunity designed for Tufts student-athletes who are passionate about public service, community engagement, and translating leadership skills developed through athletics into meaningful civic action. Through education, hands-on experience, and mentorship, the program equips participants to become leaders on campus and beyond.

This program reflects a shared commitment by Tufts Athletics and Tisch College to prepare student-athletes not only for success in sport and academics, but also for active, informed participation in civic life. Civic Life Ambassadors serve as connectors between the student-athlete community, the broader Tufts campus, and surrounding communities. The program creates a structured pathway for student-athletes to deepen their understanding of civic issues and take action in ways that align with their interests and values.

Civic Life Ambassadors participate in a cohort-based experience throughout the academic year acting as representatives for their respective teams while also taking part in a 1 credit course each semester that combines classroom and experiential learning to provide a foundation for student-athletes to become leaders in the community. Civic Life Ambassadors can expect to experience:
  • Civic learning workshops and discussions focused on topics such as community engagement, democratic participation, leadership, and social impact.
  • Hands-on civic or community-based projects, allowing ambassadors to apply learning in real-world contexts.
  • Leadership development and reflection, helping participants articulate how their athletic experiences translate to civic and professional settings.
  • Collaboration with Tisch College staff, faculty, and community partners.
Applications for the 2026–2027 Civic Life Ambassador Program are now open and must be submitted by March 6, 2026. Selected students will be notified following the review process, with the program launching at the start of the 2026–2027 academic year. For more information about the Civic Life Ambassador Program or how to apply, students are encouraged to connect with their team's current CLA or Frank Roche (Civic Life Administrator for Athletics) at francis.roche@tufts.edu.
