Leimbach Earns First NESCAC Softball Player of the Week Honor of 2026

MEDFORD, MA (March 9, 2026) – Tufts University senior Haley Leimbach is NESCAC Softball's first Player of the Week of the 2026 season, announced today after she helped the Jumbos to a strong performance at the Triangle Collegiate Softball Classic in Raleigh, North Carolina over the weekend (Mar. 6-8).

Leimbach hit .480 (12/25) with 10 runs scored and four rbis in six games, and played perfect infield defense as Tufts won five out of six games to start the season.  Playing both third base and first base, she handled all 49 chances cleanly. While slugging .720 and getting on base at a .500 clip during the weekend, she also stole two bases.

Batting lead-off, Leimbach was 3 for 4 with two runs in a win over TCNJ and then went 4 for 5 with a double, a home run and four runs scored in a victory against Mary Baldwin on opening day (Friday). On Saturday she knocked in a pair of runs and scored twice in a win over #9 Christoper Newport, then had a double and scored Tufts' run in the lone  loss to #2 Virginia Wesleyan. She finished the weekend with two hits in both games on Sunday against Randolph-Macon and Lynchburg (both victories).

This is the first conference honor for Leimbach. Early in the 2026 softball season, she leads NESCAC with 12 hits, 10 runs scored and three doubles.
