MEDFORD, MA (April 25, 2026) - On Saturday afternoon, the No. 4 Tufts men's tennis team hosted the Trinity College Bantams on the Vouté Tennis Courts in Medford for their last regular season match of the season.
Entering the match, the Jumbos were riding a 12-game win streak that started on the Spring Break trip to California, helping their season record reach an impressive 18-2. The Bantams haven't given the Jumbos much trouble over the last ten years, losing eight straight matches to the Brown and Blue. Today ended up being no different, with Tufts winning the match 7-0, their seventh sweep of the season.
Andrej Djokic and
Kaetan Mehta got straight to work, beating Luca Garbati and Maxim Golubenko 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and staying undefeated as a duo through seven matches this year.
Javier Gonzalez and
Stavros Mastrogamvrakis produced the same scoreline at No. 3 doubles, as they beat Andrew Nelson and Thompson Brown 6-1 in just 23 minutes. At No. 1 doubles,
Alex Ganchev and
Sacha Maes found themselves down 5-4 before ripping off three straight games to win the set 7-5 and sweep the doubles point for the Bo's.
After winning in doubles,
Andrej Djokic kept up his winning ways by beating Garbati 6-2, 6-3 for his second win at No. 1 singles this season.
Eren Cheung finished minutes later, beating Enrico Buoro 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Following in his older brother's footsteps,
Matej Djokic took down Keyon'dre St. Clair Clarke 7-5, 6-2 at No. 5 singles. He clinched the match for the Jumbos and remained undefeated in singles during his freshman season.
Takehiro Shuda was able to secure his fourth win of the year in singles after he beat Brown 6-2, 6-3 in straight sets at No. 6 singles. Mastrogamvrakis then delivered the sixth point of the day for the Bo's after he beat Golubenko 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Garv Bahl was the last Jumbo to finish and the only one to drop a set after his battle with Pope at No. 2 singles. Bahl took the first set 6-1 before dropping the second one 7-5. In the third set 10-point tiebreak, Bahl was able to pull it out 10-7.
With today's win, the Jumbos will finish the year with a perfect 10-0 record in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Next Friday at Wesleyan, the Jumbos will officially be the one seed of the NESCAC Championships, their opponent is still up in the air and will depend on the results of matches today and tomorrow for other NESCAC teams.
Order of Finish: 2, 3, 1
1, 4, 5, 6, 3, 2
