No. 20 Women's Tennis Earns Road Win At Conn. College Friday

NEW LONDON, CT (April 3, 2026) -- No. 20 Tufts University delivered a dominant performance on Friday afternoon, sweeping Connecticut College 7-0 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's tennis action at the Connecticut College Tennis Courts.

The Jumbos, now 9-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play, controlled the match from the outset by securing all three doubles points with identical 6-2 victories. The top pairing of Lucy Mitchell and Rachel Cranley set the tone with a decisive win at No. 1, while Brooklyn Bindas and Natalie Hu followed suit at No. 2. Athena Li and Steffy Jullian completed the doubles sweep with another 6-2 result at No. 3, giving Tufts a 3-0 lead heading into singles play.

Tufts carried that momentum into singles, claiming all six matches in straight sets to complete the shutout.

At the top of the lineup, Lucy Mitchell earned a solid 6-3, 6-4 victory over Maya Kowalska at No. 1 singles. Melanie Woodbury was in control throughout her 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2, while Ellie Gershaw delivered the most dominant performance of the day with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 result at No. 3.

Nadia Khera battled through the most competitive match of the afternoon at No. 4, securing a 6-3, 7-5 win over Lily Kerachsky. Athena Li added a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 5, and Claudia Grove rounded out the singles sweep with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 6.

In total, Tufts dropped just one set across singles and doubles play, showcasing depth and consistency across the lineup.

The Jumbos take on No. 3 Wesleyan University Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in Middletown, CT.
