ST. PETERSBURG, FL (May 19, 2026) – The Tufts University coed sailing team is in ninth place after the first day of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Fleet Race Championship Western Semifinals on Tuesday.
Conditions allowed for just four A division races and two in B division today on Tampa Bay. The Jumbos compiled scores totaling to 37 in A's and 19 in B's for a 56 team score.
The top nine teams out of the 18 overall competitors from the Western Semifinal will advance to the ICSA Fleet Race Finals, which start on Thursday.
With so few races held on Tuesday, the scoring is tight from the seventh through 10th sports. Surrounding the Jumbos are North Carolina State in seventh place (54), Yale in eighth (55) and Florida State in 10th (57).

Kate Castleberry raced for the Jumbos in A division today. They had scores of eighth, 16th, eighth and fifth to place 10th in A's so far.
Tufts' B team on Tuesday had sophomore
Oliver Keeves skippering with junior
Cody Lamoreux as crew. They placed 10th and ninth in their two races, which puts them 11th in the division.
Brown leads the regatta through Tuesday with 6-7-13 scoring.
First warning for day two of the Western Semifinal on Wednesday is 9:30 AM.
