CASTINE, ME / CAMBRIDGE, MA (September 13, 2026) – The Tufts University coed sailing team qualified for the New England Match Racing Championships with their performance at the Harman Cup on Sunday.
Along with placing second of eight teams at the Harman Cup hosted by Maine Maritime, Tufts also had a good second of six teams finish at the Harvard Invitational today. The second day of the Harry Anderson Trophy at Yale, where Tufts was 12th through Saturday's action, was canceled on Sunday due to a lack of wind.
At the Harman Cup, Tufts had been fourth after Saturday's four races. On Sunday, they earned second-place finishes in four races to move up to a second-place finish with a total score of 21 over eight races. First-place Bowdoin (11), Tufts and third-place Boston University (29) earned qualifying sports into the New England Match Race Championships coming up later this month. Sophia Corzine. This marks the first time since 2023 that Tufts has qualified a team for the New England Match Race Championship.
At the Harvard Invitational, each school had three teams racing in one combined division. In four races overall at the one-day event, Tufts' total score of 93 was second behind only Brown University (80). The Jumbo team of freshman skipper

At the Anderson Trophy, Saturday's results for nine A division races and eight B division starts stand as final. Tufts had scores of 93 in A's and 83 in B's for a 177 total. The A division team had senior skipper

Next weekend, the Jumbos have the New England Singlehanded Championship (at Boston College), the Hatch Brown Trophy (at MIT) and the Mystic Lake Invitational at home on the schedule.
