DORCHESTER, MA (September 18, 2026) – Tufts University junior
Brayden Benesch is in ninth place after one day of the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Open Singlehanded Championship which started Friday on Dorchester Bay.
In four races today, Benesch earned a score of 42 to get into the top 10 out of 25 competitors overall. He finished strong with a fifth-place finish in the final race of the day.

Teddy Bower are also representing the Jumbos at the Championship event. Owen is 17th (55 score) and Bower is 22nd (86) through Friday's four races.
Brown University freshman James Pine leads with an 11 score, including a pair of first-place scores.
The NEISA competitors are vying for qualifying spots into the 2026 Intercollegiate Sailing Association Singlehanded National Championship coming up November 7-8 at Fordham University. This weekend's winner earns an automatic berth, while other potential qualifiers from the region will be announced by a selection committee next month.
Day two of the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship on Saturday will begin at 10:15 AM.
