CAMBRIDGE / DORCHESTER / MEDFORD, MA (September 19, 2026) – The Tufts University coed sailing team was in action at the Hatch Brown Trophy hosted by MIT, the New England Singlehanded Championships on Dorchester Bay and hosted the Mystic Lake Invite out of Bacow Sailing Pavilion on a busy Saturday.
The Jumbos were seventh at the three-division Hatch Brown regatta, where the teams of junior skipper

Patricia Winssinger led the way. The Tufts duos were fourth in B and C divisions, respectively. The Tufts team of sophomore skipper

Sean Beaver was 13th in A division. Yale won the regatta.
Senior Devon Owen led Tufts at the New England Singlehanded Championship, moving up to a 10th place finish overall on Saturday after being 17th on Friday. He had an outstanding finish today with third-place scores in each of the final three races. Tufts junior
Brayden Benesch finished 17th and freshman
Teddy Bower was 22nd at the Championship, which was won by Brown freshman James Pine.
Three Tufts dinghies competed at the Mystic Lake Invite, where each of the six schools had three teams racing in one division. The Jumbos were fourth in the final standings, led by the team of junior skipper
Grant Schmidt with first-year crew Emma Culligan. They were third out of 18 teams overall in the division with a 41 score, which included three races won. Senior skipper

Ella Hecker were 16th at the regatta.
The Jumbos will be busy again next weekend at the New England Match Race Championship, Brown's Hoyt Trophy and their own Hood Trophy regatta.
