Biography

2023-2024 (Freshman): Appeared in 19 games for the Jumbos...Made her collegiate debut against Rhode Island College on November 10, and she scored her first collegiate points posting six points against St. John Fisher on November 12...She finished the season with 60 points averaging 3.2 a game...She grabbed 13 defensive rebounds and 9 offensive rebounds totaling 22 for the year...The Jumbos finished the season 11-13 making an appearance in the NESCAC Tournament.   

PRIOR TO TUFTS: Was a two-year captain and standout for the Bears of Hanover High School...four-year letter winner...earned NHBCO All-State Division 2 First Team honors in 2020-21 and 2021-22...2019-20 NHBCO All-State Division 2 Honorable Mention...2023 Hanover Coach's Award honoree...1000-point scorer, reaching the milestone as a junior in 2021...career-high 31 points in 2021 against New Hampshire state champion Bedford...averaged nearly 19 points per game as a junior...helped lead her squad to a 21-0 record in 2022 and a state title...reached the Final Four in the state tournament in 2020, 2021 and 2022...graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning the Excellence in Social Studies award...Hanover Student Council...also served as Peer Leader...played AAU for the New England Crusaders. 

PERSONAL: Parents are Dr. Sari Galanes and Joe Galanes...father Joe competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada in nordic skiing, and was a part of two national championship nordic ski teams at the University of Vermont...UVM Athletic Hall of Famer in 2000...mother Sari was a three-time member of the Finland national nordic ski team, winning two NCAA titles at Vermont in cross country running and track and field...mother Sari won UVM's 1989 Wasson Athletic Prize...undeclared major...chose Tufts "because of the commitment to excellence and improvement in both academics and athletics, but more than that it was seeing the close-knit and inclusive community that I would be joining. I knew that this kind of community environment would be right to push me to excel in all areas of life."
