Tufts Club Hockey is a co-ed team that plays other club hockey programs in the New England area starting in the beginning of October and ending in early March. Practices are held 2-3 times a week, usually in the late evening at a nearby rink, and are open to anyone that wants to play. We provide transportation to and from the rink.
We play competitive hockey in Division 3 of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) and play games almost every weekend. Due to league regulations, these games have a set roster of players that are willing to commit more time. We do, however, play teams that have a wide range of skill levels, including some teams who are not in the ACHA, so we do our best to get everyone who wants to play in at least one game. Additionally, we played our first women’s-only game two seasons ago and are now associate members of the Independent Women’s Club Hockey League (IWCHL) as well. Associate membership in the IWCHL provides us with access to a network of surrounding women’s club hockey programs, which we hope to use as a resource to further that side of our program. Above all else, we are committed to being a singular team, inclusive of all identities and skill levels and we look forward to furthering our mission again this coming season!
We are currently led by President Alden Huffman, Vice Presidents Kevin Yang and Curt Johnson, ACHA Captains Cosmo Curtatone and Harrison Sweet, IWCHL Captains Layla Shaffer, Jackie Brand, and Amber Banks, and Recreation Captains Kaiden Khalsa, Marco Steel, and Noah Baker.
