Lauren Ebstein




Lauren Ebstein was named as the interim head coach in November of 2018, earning the permanent title in 2019 and has led the Tufts softball program to a pair of NCAA Division III World Series appearances and countless NCAA Tournament selections. Ebstein, a 2007 graduate of Tufts, was on the coaching staff from 2014 through 2018 and part of of a pair of NCAA Championship squads in 2014 and 2015. Ebstein is entering her seventh season as the head coach of the Jumbos, and is currently ranked No. 7 in Division III active coaches with a .789 winning clip while posting a 168-45 overall mark. Tufts also earned its first NCAA Super Regional win in 2024, knocking off Salisbury University and handing the Sea Gulls their first home NCAA Tournament loss since 2011.

As part of the Tufts program's involvement in community service under Coach Ebstein, the Jumbos Be The Match event on campus to add names to the bone marrow registry. A match was from the team's efforts, and a member of the Tufts hockey team donated blood plasma to assistant a older man who had leukemia. She then guided Tufts through the 2020 season that was canceled due to CoVID. Despite playing no games, Coach Ebstein’s program earned several academic honors. Outfielder Emily Serata received a Tufts Alumni Association Senior Award for academic achievement, involvement in the community, and leadership. Pitcher Cassie Cancemi received the Goldwater Scholarship Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the United States for undergraduates. Team alumna Sara Willner-Giwerc earned a Tufts 2020 Presidential Award for Civic Life.
