Alexis Mastronardi





Alexis Mastronardi is the Senior Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for the Jumbos. Since joining the Tufts Athletics Department in 2017 as Senior Associate Director of Athletics, she was promoted to Deputy AD in 2023 and to Senior Deputy AD in 2025. Mastronardi serves as the chief operating officer for the department, overseeing the day-to-day operations and supervising several departmental units, including Athletics Communications, Compliance, Facilities & Operations, Sports Medicine and Sports Performance. She is the direct report for many of the Jumbos head coaches and provides administrative oversight for numerous varsity programs including, Field Hockey, Men’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Ice Hockey, Women’s Lacrosse and Softball.

During her time at Tufts, the Jumbos have finished in the Top Ten of the Learfield Director’s Cup standings every year, including winning the Cup in 2022 and finishing as the nation’s runner-up in 2023 and 2026. In June of 2026, recognizing her commitment to service and dedication to the University mission, Mastronardi was a recipient of a Tufts Distinction Award, the highest honor that staff and faculty at Tufts can receive for work outside of teaching and research.

Mastronardi played a lead role in the enhancement of multiple athletics facilities at Tufts, including managing the design and coordination of renovations to the field hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball and track & field venues. In 2021, she spearheaded the design and oversaw the project management for the Jumbos’ Indoor Golf Training Center. She also played a key role in the planning for several new facilities, including the Tufts Squash Center and the Voute Tennis Courts and is currently a member of the project management teams dedicated to building the Jumbos’ new Aquatics Center (expected completion in 2028) and Tennis Pavillion (expected completion in 2027). Mastronardi was instrumental in the development of the Athletics Hall of Fame and has led ceremony logistics every year since its inception in 2017. She was also pivotal in the establishment of the physical Athletics Hall of Fame, which was installed on the 3rd floor of the Tisch Sports & Fitness Center in 2026.

In 2025, Mastronardi collaborated with Advancement to direct leadership for the women’s athletics fundraising committee and the establishment of the Women Impact Now (WIN) Endowment, Initiative and Leadership Forum. Her campus partnerships also include serving as the Athletics Department’s liaison to Team IMPACT, the Student-Athlete Mindfulness Program, the Athletics Faculty Liaison Program, Counseling and Mental Health Services, Government & Community Relations and all divisions within the Office of Student Life. Mastronardi is an administrative sport chair for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), serving as the administrator for NESCAC Men’s and Women’s Tennis during her first five years at Tufts and is currently the administrator for NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse.

Prior to joining the Jumbos, Mastronardi's career in athletics administration included a 16-year stint at Emmanuel College, where she served as the Director of Athletics from 2015-17. At Emmanuel, Mastronardi was named the 2017 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Executive of the Year, following a vote by her fellow athletic directors across the conference.

In 2001, Mastronardi began working at Emmanuel College as an Assistant AD and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. She was promoted to Associate AD in 2003 and worked in a variety of expanded roles across the department over the next 12 years. In 2015, Emmanuel appointed Mastronardi to serve as the Director of Athletics, where she led all aspects of Emmanuel’s Division III athletics program and guided the Saints to their first-ever GNAC Commissioner’s Cup in 2016. Mastronardi twice won Emmanuel’s college-wide "Staff Unsung Hero Award."

A 1996 Skidmore College graduate, Mastronardi earned a master’s degree in 1998 from Boston University (Master of Criminal Justice) and a master’s degree in 2004 from Emmanuel College (Master of Education in School Administration). While an undergrad at Skidmore, Mastronardi was a two-sport student-athlete in basketball and softball. She was Skidmore’s Student-Athlete of the Year in 1996, a two-time team captain, and still holds Skidmore’s single season and career records for assists in women’s basketball.

Mastronardi ran the Boston Marathon three times (1999, 2000, 2012).
