Ethan Maines

Ethan Maines enters his second season as an assistant coach for the women's rowing program at Tufts University. He is also the recruiting coordinator for head coach Lily Siddall's team. 

In his first year with the Jumbos in 2023-24, Maines was a key part of the Jumbo program's unprecedented success. In the fall, Tufts won its first-ever Women's Collegiate 8+ race at Head of the Charles. For the spring, the Jumbos had an undefeated Division III dual season, won their first-ever New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championship., were the New England Rowing Championships and National Invitational Rowing Championships champions and won their first-ever NCAA Championship. Maines was a College Rowing Coaches Association D3 Coaching Staff of the Year member.

Maines graduated from Ithaca College in 2021 with a major in sport management and a minor in sport psychology. He rowed at Ithaca and was a two-year captain as a junior and senior.

In the summer of 2021 he began his coaching career with the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association, where his U19 2- team won a gold medal at Summer Nationals. For the school year of 2021-22, Maines coached at Canisius High School, and had teams that won a gold medal in the U19 2- and U17 4+ at Youth Nationals. In the Summer of 2022 with the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association, he directed a squad that won a gold medal in the U23 Lightweight 8+ at Canadian Henley.

Maines is a 2023 Graduate of the Institute for Rowing Leadership through Community Rowing Inc. (CRI) in Boston. In 2022-23 he volunteer coached for Boston University Men's Rowing. That year he also coached the CRI U19 Boys team including the 2V8+ that was sixth overall at Youth Nationals.
