Justin Gomez joined the Tufts baseball coaching staff in the fall of 2023, with the 2024 season being the first on the bench for Gomez. 

Gomez comes to Tufts after serving as an assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach at Citrus College in Glendora, California. Gomez worked at Citrus from August 2019 through the summer of 2023, as he helped run practices, run workouts and coached in-game. 

Prior to getting into coaching, Gomez played five seasons in professional baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization, after being drafted in the 31st round in the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft. Gomez hit .240 in affiliated minor league baseball, and then played two years in the Frontier League with Joliet and Florence while playing a season in the USBL with Utica. 

Gomez was drafted out of Azusa Pacific, hitting .326 with a .955 OPS in 204 games. Gomez played for current head coach Paul Svagdis at APU.
