Coach Matt Leotti joins the Tufts football coaching staff after seven seasons at his alma mater, where he served as Defensive Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. During his tenure, he helped lead the team to the New Jersey State Finals in 2023.

Leotti previously coached at Tufts during the 2018 season, helping the Jumbos to a 7-2 record. He served as the Defensive Line Coach, Special Teams Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. Under his guidance, the defensive line featured Junior All-NESCAC Defensive End Kevin Quisumbing.

Prior to his first stint at Tufts, Leotti spent seven seasons at Bowdoin College, where he coached on both sides of the ball for the Polar Bears. His responsibilities included working with the Defensive Backs, Outside Linebackers, Wide Receivers, Running Backs and Tight Ends. During his time on the Bowdoin staff, he coached two All-NESCAC selections: tight end Brian Porter in 2015 and wide receiver Nick Vailas in 2017.

A 2009 graduate of Bowdoin, Leotti played in all 32 games of his collegiate career, earning three years as a starter and serving as a team captain during his senior season. He played defensive back and outside linebacker while ranking among the team leaders in tackles and interceptions.

Following his collegiate career, Leotti continued playing professionally, competing for the Trenton franchise of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) and the Laredo Rattlesnakes of the Lone Star Football League (LSFL). He also played for the Harrisburg Stampede of American Indoor Football (AIF), helping the team capture the league championship in 2013.

Leotti was a standout two-way player at Delbarton School, where he competed at wide receiver and defensive back. He served as a captain of the 2005 New Jersey State Finalist team and earned Second Team All-Non-Public honors at defensive back, First Team All-County honors and Honorable Mention All-Area recognition.

Leotti currently resides in Charlestown with his wife, Kelsey, and their sons, Matty Jr. and Luca.
