MEN'S SOCCER STOPS THREE-GAME SLIDE WITH 0-0 NESCAC TIE AT TRINITY

Michael Walker led the Jumbos with four shots

HARTFORD –  In a frustrating offensive day for both sides, the Trinity College Bantams and the Tufts University Jumbos battled to a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon on Campus Field.

For Tufts, the stalemate ends a three-game losing streak. The Jumbmos move to 4-5-2 on the year and 2-2-2 in the conference. They are currently sixth in the league. Seventh-place Trinity moves to 5-5-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in the league.

Missed opportunities were the story of the day, highlighted by a late chance for the Jumbos in the later stages of the second half when freshman forward Jono Edelman (Memphis, TN) lured Trinity junior goalkeeper Grant Schonberg (Mendham, NJ) out of the net and slipped a shot by him, but Trinity freshman defender Andrew Mcnair (Westport, CT) would win a sprint with the ball to the goal line to change the destiny of its path with a sliding kick save.

Schonberg matched Tufts junior goalkeeper Alan Bernstein (Wayne, NJ) save-for-save, as each made several key stops on their opponent's scoring chances.  Schonberg finished the game with nine saves for the Bantams, while Bernstein made eight stops in the evenly matched game. The shutout was Bernstein's third of the year.

Trinity has gone to overtime in four straight matches, and in five games this season.  The Bantams hold a 1-3-1 record in overtime games. The Jumbos are now 0-2-2 in overtime games this fall.
