MEDFORD - Senior Tamara Brown
(Annandale, VA) scored three goals and added an assist as the #2
ranked Tufts Jumbos defeated the Bates Bobcats 7-1 in Homecoming
Day field hockey action at Tufts' Bello Field on Saturday.
The game was never really in doubt as Tufts came out
gunning. Junior Sarah Cannon
(Atkinson, NH) got them going just 50 seconds in, wristing home a
nice pass on a penalty corner from senior Tess
Guttadauro (Carlisle, MA). Behind Brown's offensive
prowess, the Jumbos then took the game over. She scored three goals
in 11 minutes - one with 30:39 remaining in the first, another with
26:33 remaining and finally the hat trick with 19:39 remaining to
put Tufts up 4-0.
Tufts out shot the Bobcats 18-0 in the half and held the
advantage on penalty corners 11-0. Senior goalie Katie
McEnroe (Hockessin, DE) made four saves in the half for Bates.
The second half saw many of the Tufts reserves in action, but
similar results. Sophomore Missy Karp
(Berwyn, PA), senior co-captain Amanda
Roberts (Wenham, MA) and first year Chelsea
Yogerst (San Diego, CA) each added a goal in the second
half. For Yogerst, it was her first collegiate tally.
The Bobcats were able to break through on the scoreboard on a nice
chip in by sophomore Michelle Brady (Milton, MA) from junior
Lyndsay Beaton (West Newbury, MA). At the time, that made the score
5-1 Tufts 10 minutes into the second half.
McEnroe finished the game with eight saves for the

(Mamaroneck, NY) saw the first action of her career at Tufts in the
second half and made two stops for the victors.
The Jumbos move to 6-0 and 4-0 in NESCAC, sharing first place
with Bowdoin. They next face Wellesley at home on Thursday at 5
pm. The Bobcats fall to 1-6 and 0-5 in the league. They
are idle until hosting Williams next Saturday.
