WALTHAM - The Tufts University volleyball team won in four sets against Clarkson University at the round-robin Judges Classic hosted by Brandeis University on Friday night. The scores were 25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21.
Tufts is now 18-9 overall. Clarkson, which had won its previous five matches, dropped to 23-7 overall.
Offensively, the Jumbos were led by 17 kills from senior Caitlin Updike (Manhattan Beach, CA). Sophomore setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) returned to the line-up and had 34 assists in the four sets. Tufts also received production from senior Nancy Shrodes (Manhattan Beach, CA), who finished with eight kills and just one error, and also had a team-high three aces. Twenty-four digs from junior Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA) was the defensive highlight.
On day two tomorrow, the Jumbos will play host Brandeis at noon. They then close the regular-season with a match against UMass Boston beginning at 2 pm.
