MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Amherst (12-1, 3-1) came from a set down to
pick up a 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-22) win over Tufts (14-4,
5-1) in a neutral NESCAC match played at Middlebury. The loss is
the first of the season in conference play for the Jumbos.
Cristy Meier led the Amherst offense with 13 kills, followed by
Katherine Kanoff with 10. Laura Hyman added seven kills and four
blocks, followed by Rachel Yorke with 38 digs and Erin Camp with
23.
Senior Caitlin
Updike (Manhattan Beach, CA) paced Tufts with 22 kills, while
sophomore setter Kendall
Lord (LaJolla, CA) had 45 assists. Junior libero Audrey Kuan
(Los Altos, CA) finished the match with 27 digs, followed by Updike
with a dozen and Cara
Spieler (Santa Barbara, CA) with 10.
The Jumbos face another tough NESCAC test tomorrow when
they play against the host Panthers, who are unbeaten in the
league, at 1:30 pm. Amherst plays Bowdoin in the early match (11
am).
