MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Middlebury took over sole possession of
first place in the NESCAC with a 3-1 (17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-22)
victory over Tufts (14-5, 5-2) in Pepin Gym. The Panthers (13-3,
5-0) have now won six straight matches as they prepare to visit
Skidmore on Tuesday.
Megan Jarchow had a big match for the Panthers, finishing with
17 kills in the victory. Julia Gibbs added nine kills and 17 digs,
while Jane Handel had 13 kills and 17 digs. Lauren Barrett finished
the contest with 22 digs and 44 assists, while Caitlin Barrett
earned 25 digs.
Senior Nancy
Shrodes (Manhattan Beach, CA) and junior Cara Spieler (Santa
Barbara, CA) led the Jumbos with 10 kills apiece, while senior Caitlin
Updike (Manhattan Beach, CA) added nine. Junior Audrey Kuan
(Los Altos, CA) added 11 digs in the match, sophomore Kendall
Lord (LaJolla, CA) had 36 assists, while sophomore Kiersten
Ellefsen (Goshen, NY) chipped in with a pair of blocks.
Tufts continues a challenging stretch of NESCAC games when it
travels to play Bowdoin on Wednesday (Oct. 13).
