VOLLEYBALL 2-0 IN NESCAC AFTER MAKING QUICK WORK OF COLBY

Senior co-captain Caitlin Updike helped Tufts to its fifth straight victory

WATERVILLE, Me. - Sophomore setter Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) finished with 30 assists, nine defensive digs, and two aces as Tufts University moved to 2-0 in New England Small College Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 win at Colby College on Saturday. The Jumbos won the three sets 25-14, 25-7, and 25-20.

Tufts is 5-2 overall and 2-0 in league play, while Colby falls to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Junior Cara Spieler (Santa Barbara, CA) added 10 kills and three aces, while senior Caitlin Updike (Manhattan Beach, CA) had 12 kills and six digs. Junior Audrey Kuan (Los Altos, CA) had eight digs AND one ace and no errors on 14 service attempts.

Colby's Kate Pleasants (Virginia Beach, Va.) had 15 assists and 14 digs in the loss. Clare Reich (Piedmont, Calif.) had a team-high 16 digs, Caitlin Burchill (Walpole, Mass.) had 14 digs and four kills, and Maggie Taylor (Cabin John, Md.) finished with 11 digs and a pair of blocks.

Tufts hosts Brandeis on Tuesday night (Sept. 21) for a 7:00 start at Cousens Gymnasium. Colby is back in action on Friday night against Endicott in the MIT Invitational.
