Wesleyan Hands Jumbo Women's Squash Third Straight Loss on Friday, 9-0

Mercedes Barba lost the #2 match in five games

MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Wesleyan University women's squash team won eight of the nine matches in three games and took a 9-0 victory over Tufts on Friday night to start the Wesleyan Round Robin tournament.

Wesleyan entered the night ranked 19th in the Dunlop Women's College Squash Team Rankings as of November 14, while the Jumbos were #21.

Senior Mercedes Barba (New York, NY) was the only Jumbo to extend her opponent to more than three games. She lost in five to Lauren Nelson of Wesleyan. Barba won the first game 11-4 before dropping the next two. After Barba evened the match 2-2 with a 13-11 win, Nelson took the match with an 11-3 fifth-game win.

Tufts senior Jennifer LaCara (Huntington Station, NY) scored 18 points in her #6 loss to Danielle Craig.

The loss was the third straight for the Jumbos, who fell to 2-3 overall. The Cardinals are now 4-2.

Tufts continues play at the Wesleyan Round Robin with three matches on Saturday.
