Senior Amy Wifert competed in two events at the NCAA meet

COLUMBUS, Oh. - Junior Nakeisha Jones (Boston, MA) of the Tufts University women's indoor track & field team placed sixth in the triple jump to earn All-American honors at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday at Capital University.
In the flights for the triple jump, Jones qualified sixth out of the nine to move on to the final with a 37'6" (11.43m) best. In the finals, her sixth and final effort was a 37'8 1/2" (11.49m) that landed her in sixth place. The top eight earn All-American honors in each event.
This is the third All-American performance for Jones at the NCAA Indoor meet. She was the national runner-up in the triple jump at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships. She was also fourth indoors in 2009.
Also on Saturday at the NCAA meet, junior Dayorsha Collins competed in the high jump. She finished 15th overall by clearing 5'3 1/4" (1.61m). Junior Heather Theiss (North Woodmere, NY) competed in the pole vault also on Saturday. She got over the bar at 11'6 1/2" (3.52m) for a 14th place finish.
Tufts began its NCAA action on Friday. In the distance medley relay (DMR), first year Laura Peterson (Melrose, MA) led off followed by sophomore Kaylee Maykranz (Jackson, WY), first year Jana Hieber (Goffstown, NH) and then senior Amy Wilfert (Westborough, MA) in the anchor role. They combined for a 12:16.93 time for ninth place, missing All-American honors by less than five seconds.
Earlier in the day, Wilfert ran in the preliminaries for the mile. Competing in the second of two heats, she missed qualifying for the final by a half-second. Her 5:00.85 time was 10th overall nationally in the event. The top eight times from the heats advanced, with a 5:00.36 getting the last spot.
