WATERVILLE, ME - Senior Jamie Love-Nichols (Cortez, CO) scored on a breakaway at 10:30 of the first half for what proved to be the game-winning goal as the Tufts University women's soccer team took a 3-0 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
The Jumbos stay unbeaten on the season at 3-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference, while the Mules fall to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the league.
Tufts added an insurance goal before halftime when Maeve Stewart (Palo Alto, CA) took a quick pass from Anya Kaufmann (Evergreen, CO) and put the Jumbos up 2-0 with 7:06 left to intermission.
After a corner kick by the Jumbos, Alina Okamoto (Altadena, CA) knocked in a shot off a scramble in front of the net at 66:30 of the contest.
Tufts goalkeepers Kristin Wright (Austin, TX), Phoebe Hanley (Mamaroneck, NY), and Rachel Chazin-Gray (Berkeley, CA) combined for two saves in the shutout. Colby keeper Emily Brook (Duxbury, Mass.) made five saves.
