Jumbo Women's Squash Splits Matches at Maine Round Robin Tournament

Hafsa Chaudhry was one of several Jumbos to win convincingly over Drexel

BRUNSWICK, ME - An 8-1 victory over Drexel on Saturday highlighted the Tufts women's squash team's performance at the Maine Round Robin tournament this weekend. The Jumbos also lost to host Bowdoin 9-0 on Saturday.

In the Drexel match, played after the loss to Bowdoin, the Jumbos won five matches allowing single-digit points. First-year Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) was the most dominant, winning at #3 while allowing just five points to her opponent. Junior Caitlin Doherty (Topsfield, MA) was a close second, winning 11-1, 11-2, 11-3 in the seventh match. Senior co-captain Mercedes Barba (New York, NY) surrendered just seven points in her #2 victory. The win was the seventh of the season for the #23 Jumbos.

Facing #19 Bowdoin, Dahlman finished a competitive weekend with hard-fought 12-10, 9-11, 12-10, 13-11 loss to Alden Drake in the third match. Barba tallied 21 points during a three-game loss in the #2 spot.

With the two results, the Jumbos are now 7-9 overall. They play in the NESCAC Championship at Trinity College next weekend.
