Volleyball Loses Hall of Fame Tournament Opener Against League Rival Bowdoin in Three

SOUTH HADLEY - The Bowdoin College women's volleyball team extended its season-best winning streak to nine with a decisive 3-0 (25-9, 25-21, 25-22) win over Tufts on Friday at the opening session of the Hall of Fame Tournament hosted by Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges.

The Polar Bears improve to 21-2 this season, while Tufts drops to 11-10. This was a non-conference match. Bowdoin earned its second win against Tufts this season following a closer 3-2 final in NESCAC play on October 6.

Melissa Haskell led the Polar Bears with 12 kills while Ellie Brennan had nine.

For the Jumbos, sophomore Kelly Brennan (Burr Ridge, IL) led with 10 kills. Junior Virginia Clay (Santa Clara, CA) topped Tufts with 11 digs, while senior tri-captain Kendall Lord (LaJolla, CA) had a solo block and four assists.

Play resumes at Smith on Day Two of the Hall of Fame Tournament on Saturday. The Jumbos face Swarthmore at 11 am and Bridgewater State at 1 pm. Bowdoin will play MIT at 11 am before playing Wheaton at 3:00 pm.
