NEW LONDON, CT - First-year Allie Weiller (Katonah, NY) scored in the opening minute of overtime to lift the Tufts University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Connecticut College Saturday in a NESCAC match.
The Jumbos improve their record to 3-5-2 overall and are 1-5-1 in conference play after scoring their first NESCAC victory of 2012. The Camels are 2-6-1 overall with a 0-6 record in league action.
Junior Kristin Wright (Austin, TX) stopped six shots en route to the shutout for the Jumbos. Sophomore Natalie Signor (Glastonbury, CT) made two saves for the Camels.
Like the Jumbos, the Camels continue to play close contests and this was another game that certainly could have gone either way. Tufts held an 11-10 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Ali McKeigue (Arlington, MA) and junior Aina Torres (Barcelona, Spain) accounted for two shots each in the setback for the Camels.
The Camels will host Middlebury College tomorrow afternoon for a noon-time NESCAC match up in New London. The Jumbos will host the Gulls of Endicott College this Tuesday afternoon for a 4:00 pm game in Medford.
