Freshman Michael Winget posted three wins on the weekend for the Jumbos

WILLIAMSTOWN - Freshman Michael Winget (Shelburne, VT) earned two victories as the Tufts men's swimming & diving team competed in a tri-meet at Williams with Wesleyan on Sunday. The Jumbos split the team results, defeating the Cardinals 218-59 and losing against the Ephs 184-105.
Winget was first in the 100 backstroke (52.38 seconds) and the 200 backstroke (1:54.94). He also had the second-best time in the 400 individual medley (4:19.12). Including a win in the 50 backstroke at MIT on Saturday, Winget enjoyed a very productive weekend for head coach Adam Hoyt's Jumbos.
The only other Jumbo win at Williams came in one-meter diving, where junior Johann Schmidt (Nanuet, NY) scored 333.90 points. He would take second in the three-meter event with a 291.95 total.
Tufts had four runner-up performances overall. Junior Drew Berman (Miami, FL) produced two of them. He swam 1:01.74 in the 100 breaststroke and also touched second in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:16.13 finish.
Freshman Anthony DeBenedetto (Hopkinton, MA) added a second in the 200 butterfly (1:58.64).
Tufts' dual meet record is now 3-3 heading into Tuesday evening's home meet against Division I Boston College. The action at Hamilton Pool starts at 6 pm.
