MEDFORD, MA (April 29, 2026) - Tufts University junior
Jack Nussbaum has achieved national recognition for his athletic and academic accomplishments with a selection to the 2025-26 Academic All- America® men's swimming & diving teams announced by College Sports Communicators today.
One of just 25 individuals in the nation who have earned Academic All- America® honors in men's swimming & diving this year, Nussbaum is a secod-team honoree in Division III. The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. Nussbuam is one of just five Academic All- America® recipients from New England schools, and one of three from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
Nussbbaum qualified nationally and swam in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke (seeded 14th) at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Despite being sick while at the meet, he placed 23rd in Division III for the 200 breast and 30th in the 100 breast. An All-Conference honoree for finishing third in the 200 breaststroke at the NESCAC Championships, he established a new school record in the event with a time of 1:58.97 at the conference meet. He was also part of the 400 medley relay that was fourth at NESCAC's.
For his career, Nusbaum is a two-time national qualifier who also competed in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 individual medley at the 2024 NCAA Championships. An All-Conference honoree in 2024 for his third-place finish in the 200 breast, he originally broke the school record with his 1:59.72 mark that year. He was also seventh in the 100 breast at the 2024 NESCAC's.
Nussbaum has an outstanding 3.90 grade point average as a quantitative economics major at Tufts. He is a two-time NESCAC All-Academic Team member for carrying a grade point average of 3.50 or higher, has been on the Dean's List for all five of his semesters so far, and has also earned a minor in math.
His community service activities include serving as a team representative for Athlete Ally, which advocates for LGBTQ+ visibility and equality in athletics, and for Green Dot, which promotes a safer campus environment by employing bystander intervention skills. He is also a Tufts Swim Instructor, teaching local children to swim.
