Men's Cross Country Finishes 14th at Conn College Invitational

Junior Colin McCrory was the first Jumbo finisher at the Conn College Invitational 


WATERFORD, Conn. – The Tufts Men's Cross Country team ran in the Connecticut College Invitational, finishing 14th out of 21 teams in the event held at Harkness State Park on Saturday.  The race was good preparation for the Jumbos who will race on this same course for the NESCAC Championships in two weeks. 

Junior Colin McCrory (Southbury, CT) was the first Jumbo finisher, claiming 47th place with a time of 26:43.  Just behind him in 49th place was fellow classmate Sam Garfield (Holland, PA) with a time of 26:45.  Next for the Jumbos was freshman Bobby McLaughlin (Westwood, MA) running a time of 27:03 for 66th place.  In 78th place was sophomore Mitchell Black (Brunswick, ME) crossing the line in 27:22 and rounding out the scoring for the Jumbos was junior Joseph St. Pierre (Concord,NH) in 83rd place with a time of 27:30.  

Michael Leduc of Connecticut College won the entire race with a time of 24:54.  Keene State was the first place finisher in the team standings with 74 total points.  Right on their heels was Coast Guard with 77 points.  Host Connecticut College finished third with 140 points.  The Jumbos finished in 14th place with 323 points.  There were 21 total teams in the event. 

The team will now have a weekend off before racing in the NESCAC Championship meet on November 2nd also held at Harkness State Park.
