Jumbo Volleyball Suffers First NESCAC Loss at Williams in Three

WILLIAMSTOWN - The Williams College volleyball team, tied for 25th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association rankings, remained undefeated in NESCAC and handed Tufts its first conference loss in three sets Friday night.

The host Ephs improved to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in NESCAC, while the Jumbos dropped to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in NESCAC. Set scores were 25-20, 25-19, 25-21.

Tori Jasuta led Williams in kills at 19. Jasuta also led the team in digs at 16, while Mandy Schott was close behind with 12. Ryan Farley had 45 assists.

First-year Elizabeth Ahrens was errorless hitting for Tufts, with seven kills on nine attempts. Defensively, the Jumbos received nine digs from sophomore Kyra Baum and eight by sophomore Carolina Berger. The Jumbos out-blocked Williams, with Ahrens, junior Isabel Kuhel and first-year Mary Maccabee each recording three assists.

Tufts stays on the road and plays at Amherst in a 2 pm match tomorrow. The Ephs host Connecticut College tomorrow at 2 pm.
