PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The women's squash team dropped a tough match to Brown on Saturday. The Bears were victorious, 9-0. The match was the second of the day for the Jumbos as they took on NESCAC rival Bowdoin earlier in the day in Cambridge.
Sophomore Paget Stanco (Rye, NY) gave the Bears the most trouble in the number one position, scoring 18 points across her three games with Dori Rahbar. First-year Lynn Cheng (Singapore) was topped by Hannah Hay-Smith in the number two flight, 11-5, 11-6, 11-2.
Sophomore Tammara Gary (Exeter, NH) moved up to the number three position but was bested by Emily Richmond in three games. Junior Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) lost her match in the number four position, but did challenge Brown's Katherine Elliott-Moskwa.
First-year Anna Bezahler (Philadelphia, PA) and juniors Sally Pratt (Groton, MA) and Eleanor Monroe (New Canaan, CT) lost in the fifth, sixth and seventh positions, respectively. All three of the losses came in three games.
Sophomore Madison Hafitz (Atlanta, GA) played in the number eight spot, but was beaten by Kathryn Yates in three games. Sophomore Sophie Laing (Red Hook, NY) rounded out the Jumbos' lineup, playing in the number nine position, but losing in three games.
The Jumbos will be back in action on Monday night as they take on Boston College at the Belmont Hill School at 8:00 pm.
