Greg Hardy was the second Jumbo to cross the finish line

BRISTOL, R.I -Four runners finished in the top 15 to lead the men's cross country team to a second place finish at the ECAC Championships held at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. on Saturday. Junior Marshall Pagano (Niskayuna, NY) led the Jumbo runners with a fourth place finish.
Racing their JV squad as their top seven runners rest for the NCAA Regional Championships, the Jumbos team finished in second place with 75 points. Williams, who had runners finish one-two-three, won the event with 26 points, while Amherst finished third with 84 points. Fellow NESCAC schools rounded out the top six, as Colby (141), Middlebury (175) and Bates (188) finished fourth through sixth respectively.
Pagano crossed the line first for the Jumbo squad with a time of 26:01. He was just under 20 seconds behind the winner, Cole Townsend of Williams. Junior Greg Hardy (Barnstable, MA) was next for Tufts as his time of 26:17 earned him eighth place.
Junior Colin McCrory (Southbury, CT) finished 10th with a time of 26:22, while senior Brian McLaughlin (Barrington, RI) was right behind him in 12th place running the course in 26:26. Sophomore James Traester (Amherst, MA) rounded out the scoring for Tufts with a time of 27:00 good for 41st place.
The second place finish is promising for a Jumbo squad that should move into the top seven runners next year. Next up is the NCAA Regional Championship held in Gorham, Maine where the Jumbos will be running for a bid to the NCAA Championships.
