Box Score
Bri Keenan scored the winning run in the seventh inning of the second game

HARTFORD – Sophomore Bri Keenan (Portsmouth, NH) went 4 for 5 with two runs and two rbis to lead the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to an 11-1, 3-2 double-header sweep against the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East Division softball action this afternoon.

Trinity, losers of eight in a row, falls to 8-13 overall and 1-4 in the NESCAC East, while Tufts, ranked #6 in the nation, improves to 24-2 overall and 8-0 in the division.

Trinity first-year pitcher Hannah King (Kennebunk, ME) held Tufts scoreless for the first five innings of the second game, after the Bantams had suffered an 11- 1 setback in five innings in the opener.  Trinity took a 2-0 lead in the third frame when junior C Abby Ostrom (Carlisle, MA) smacked a two-run double, but the Jumbos tied the score in the top of the sixth inning on a double by Michelle Cooprider (Hopkinton, MA), an rbi single by Kayla Holland (Attleboro, MA), and an rbi groundout by Abby Curran (Hamilton, MA).

In the seventh inning, Keenan led off with a single, advanced to third on an error and a ground out, and scored on an outfield error.  In the bottom of the final inning, Trinity junior tri-captain Christina Galese (Fairfield, NJ) reached base on a two-out error, and Tufts replaced starter Aly Moskowitz (Westfield, NJ) with game-one winner Allyson Fournier (Windsor, CT) who hit Bantam senior tri-captain SS Caroline Blanchard (Norwich, CT) with a pitch to put the tying run on second base.  Fournier settled down and earned a save with a strikeout to end the game.

Moskowitz (7-0) earned the win, allowing three hits and one earned run with three strikeouts and two walks, while King took the loss despite yielding five hits and two earned runs in a complete-game effort.

Fournier allowed one hit and no runs in four innings of work in the first game, while the Jumbos totaled 10 hits combined with seven Trinity errors.  Junior Jo Clair (Glastonbury, CT) was 4 for 4 with three runs, three rbi, a double, and a home run for Tufts. Galese tripled in the Trinity run in the fifth frame.  Bantam first-year righty Amanda Feldman (Natick, MA) took the loss in the circle.

The teams will play a single game tomorrow starting at 11 am.
