MEDFORD - Dakota Sikes-Keilp (Montclair, NJ) scored the game-winner in the second half to lift the Tufts University field hockey team over Trinity College 1-0 in NESCAC action Sunday afternoon at Bello Field.
The Jumbos improve to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the NESCAC, while Trinity falls to 5-3 and 3-2 in conference play.
The two teams played a back-and-forth scoreless first half with Tufts' best opportunity coming from a shot that hit off the post.
The game winner came at the 44:51 mark when Sikes-Keilp's blistering shot off a corner from sophomore Alexandra Jamison (Gaithersburg, MD) beat the Trinity goalkeeper.
The Bantams kept up the pressure with two second-half corners, but junior Brianna Keenan (Greenland, NH) preserved the shutout for the Jumbos making four saves in the win.
Sophie Fitzpatrick (Duxbury, MA) was impressive in goal for the Bantams as she stopped nine shots for Trinity.
Tufts will return to the field when they host NESCAC opponent Middlebury next Saturday at 1:30 pm. Trinity will be at home against Bowdoin also on Saturday.
