Rookie Anna Bezahler won in three games in the number four position for Tufts

NEW HAVEN, CT – The Tufts women's squash team put another tally in the win column on Sunday, beating Haverford by a convincing 9-0 score. Six of the Jumbo women swept their matches in three games.
In the number one position, sophomore Paget Stanco (Rye, NY) lost the first game before coming back to win, 9-11, 11-2, 11-6, 11-6. Junior Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) won in the number two position in just three games, 11-7, 11-9, 11-1. Similarly, fellow classmate Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) won in three games in the number three position, 11-5, 11-2, 11-1.
First year Anna Bezahler (Philadelphia, PA) won convincingly in the number four position, topping her Haverford counterpart, 11-2, 11-6, 11-2. Fellow rookie Lynn Cheng (Singapore) found similar results in the number five position, beating Isabel Agnew of Haverford, 11-1, 11-5, 11-2. Senior Caroline Howe (Carlisle, MA) earned the win in the number six spot with scores of, 11-6, 11-4, 11-6.
The number seven and eight positions proved to be the toughest for the Jumbos as they both went four games but did result in Jumbo wins. Junior Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA) won in the number eight position, 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 11-5. Sophomore Sophie Laing (Red Hook, NY) rounded up the Tufts lineup, winning in the number nine position convincingly, 11-3, 11-4, 11-1.
The Jumbos return to action on Friday, January 24 with an 8:30 pm match against William Smith. The following day they will take on NESCAC rivals Colby and Conn. College.
