NEW LONDON, CT - Sophomore Bryanna Montalvo made a game-saving stop with 8:20 remaining in regulation to lead the Connecticut College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory against Tufts University in front of 500 fans on Fall Weekend.

Sarah Pykkonen put two shots on goal for Tufts

The Camels, ranked #5 in the latest NSCAA Regional Rankings, improved to 9-1 with a 5-1 record in the NESCAC. Tufts fell to 6-3-1 with a 2-3-1 mark in conference play.

Connecticut College held a 14-11 advantage in shots and a 9-2 edge in corner kicks.

But in the 82nd minute, the visitors had a chance to break a scoreless tie when junior Allie Weiller broke free in a one-on-one situation versus the keeper. Montalve was able to sprint out off of her line about 15 yards out and dove to make a punch save on Weiller's blast to preserve the tie at the time.

The Camels finally broke through with 7:17 remaining on a set piece.  Rebecca Raymond delivered a high arching cross to the near post.  Sophomore Annie Higgins met the ball with a nifty looking header to put the Camels on top 1-0.

The hosts were able to hold for the one-goal victory.

Montalvo finished with four saves en route to her sixth shutout of the season. Eileen McGarry made four saves for the visitors.

The Camels host Colby College Sunday for a noon-time NESCAC match up while the Jumbos visit Trinity for a 1:00 p.m. game in Hartford on Sunday.
