Men's Cross Country Places 13th at Connecticut College Invitational

Freshman John Greenberg ran second for the Jumbos

WATERFORD, CT - Resting its starting seven and most of its second seven, the Tufts men's cross country team posted a 13th place finish out of 18 teams at the annual Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday. The eight-kilometer race was held at Harkness Memorial State Park.

Tufts' top five finishers compiled a 370 score, led by freshman Sam Little. He was 43rd in a field of 212 entrants with a 27:05 time.

Freshman John Greenberg was the second Jumbo to cross the finish line, placing 84th overall with a 27:54 effort. Sophomore Michael Caughron was one second behind in 27:55 posting an 86th place finish.

Jumbo junior Alexander Apostolides was the 100th overall finisher (28:15) and senior Joe Poupard earned the 120th spot (28:35).

The Jumbos ran just six overall, with freshman Chris Warren timing 30:49.

The Tufts varsity seven will return next week when the Jumbos compete at the 2014 NESCAC Championship hosted by Williams College at Mount Greylock High School next Saturday. The men have a noon start time.
