MIDDLEBURY, VT - Sophomores Tim Nichols and Luke O'Connor both posted All-Conference times while leading the Tufts men's cross country team to fifth place at today's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship Race.
Nichols was seventh overall and O'Connor 14th helping the Jumbos compiled a team score of 115. The Williams College men captured their 15th NESCAC Championship and second in a row by a healthy margin with a 39 score.
Finishing the eight-kilometer course in 25:28.6, Nichols earned All-Conference first team honors with his seventh place. He was approximately 30 seconds off the winning pace set by Williams College's Colin Cotton, who claimed individual honors with a 24:56.8 time. Nicholas was All-Conference second team last fall after placing 14th.
O'Connor will receive second team All-NESCAC accolades with today's 25:42.1 time for 14th.
Senior Nick Guarnaccia ran third for the Jumbos and 24th overall in a 26:06.6 time. Classmate Colin McCory was also in the top 30 out of 121 runners overall with a 26:13.4 finish. The fifth scorer for the Jumbos was senior Greg Hardy with a 26:26.4 effort to place 41st overall.
Head coach Ethan Barron's Jumbos placed among the top five teams in the conference championship race for the eighth straight season.
