MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The women's squash team closed out a busy weekend on Sunday, facing off with #15 Middlebury, but falling to the Panthers 9-0. The women also took on Wellesley, Connecticut College and Hamilton this week.
First-year Claudia Udolf took the courts in the first position, but was topped by Saskia Pownall-Gray, 11-0, 11-3, 11-5. Senior tri-captain Paige Dahlman faced off with Charlotte Dewey in the second position but ended up losing 11-7, 11-3, 11-3. Fellow classmate and tri-captain Ann Bellinger played the closest match of the day with Anne Wymard in the third spot, falling, 11-2, 11-7, 11-9.
In the fourth position, rookie Lauren Banner faced off with Katie Dewey, but wasn't able to top her Panther counterpart. Sophomore Anna Bezahler wasn't able to beat Liddy Renner in the fifth position. Playing in the six spot, first-year Gabrielle Salomon lost to Lily Bogle, 11-4, 11-5, 11-2.
In the seventh position, first-year Ellen Harvey played Caroline Jahrling, but wasn't able to top the Panther. Junior Hannah Park took on Audrey Ellen in the eight position, but wasn't able to secure a win. The Panthers won be default in the nine position.
With the loss the Jumbos move to 1-7 on the season. They will break for the Thanksgiving holiday and be back in action on Friday December 5 when they travel to Vassar for a 6:30 pm match.
