Senior Caroline Howe notched a win for the Jumbos in the number six spot

HAMILTON, NY – The Tufts women's squash team faced off against Conn. College for the second time in just one week, and this time the win was more decisive, as the Jumbos won, 7-2 in the consolation rounds of the NESCAC Squash Championships held at Colgate University. The Jumbos also beat the Camels last weekend, 5-4.
Following the match with Conn. College the women had a 3:00 pm showdown with Colby to complete the consolation rounds of the tournament. The Jumbos fell into the consolation bracket on Friday night with a loss to Bowdoin.
Sophomore Paget Stanco (Rye, NY) won her match in the number one position in just three games, 12-10, 11-5, 11-8. In the number two spot, junior Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) needed four games but was able to top the Camel's Leah Puklin, 11-8, 10-12, 11-7, 11-9. Junior Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) cruised through her match in the number three position, winning, 11-4, 11-5, 11-5.
After dropping the first game in the number five position, rookie Lynn Cheng (Singapore) came back to secure the win over Anne Holly, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-4. Senior Caroline Howe (Carlisle, MA) also saw her match in the six slot go to four games, as she was able to beat Caroline Lippincott, 11-7, 6-11, 11-9, 12-10. In the number seven position, two of the four games went to extra points, but freshman Rowan Rice (Rye, NY) won the contest, 11-13, 14-12, 11-6, 11-7.
Junior Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA) tallied the last win for the Jumbos, coming back after losing the first two games to beat Tori Allen of Conn. College in the number eight position, 8-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-6.
First-year Anna Bezahler (Philadelphia, PA) and sophomore Sophie Laing (Red Hook, NY) played in the fourth and ninth spots, respectively, but weren't able to secure wins for the Jumbos.
Following the win over Conn. College the Jumbos took on Colby at 3:00 pm, which closed out consolation play of the tournament. The women return to the courts on February 6 when they travel to take on Northeastern at 8:00 pm.
